All Central Illinois Events

The Coalition of Rainbow Alliances once again has invited the GLBT community to join with them for their 2009 community Thanksgiving Dinner.  The annual event will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at the First Church of the Brethren, in Springfield.  Everyone is welcomed.  The event is free, with Turkey and fixings provided by community groups and individuals, associated with CORAL.   Side dishes of salads, casseroles and deserts may be brought to share, canned goods along with boxed foodstuffs will be collected for the Heartland Metropolitan Community Church Food Pantry.  Dinner will be served at 6:30 PM.

After dinner, a short concert by the Capital City Men’s Chorus will entertain diners, followed by deserts and coffee.

“The Annual Dinner is perhaps the oldest GLBT Event in the Springfield area,” said David Bishop, a CORAL board member. “Several of our older members remember attending the dinner in the late seventies, early eighties. CORAL has sponsored the event the last ten or twelve years. It brings many factions of our community together.  It’s just to good to miss!”

First Church of the Brethren is located on Yale Boulevard, just south of Ash Street between 9^th and 11^th streets.
