Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center (UCIMC) located in the historic Urbana Post Office Building has several studio/office spaces available. As a not for profit organization, UCIMC offers these spaces at a break-even point, providing an affordable environment for your occupation or preoccupation.

Although painted in stylish and smart colors, the historic ambiance has been maintained throughout the building. From high ceilings, to natural woodwork, to marble flooring, to large paned windows flooding the space with natural light, no detail has been overlooked. Yet, with the historic preservation, several modern amenities abound, including free wireless Internet, Ethernet, individual climate control, and secure entries.

UCIMC is ideally located in downtown Urbana. The Post Office remains at this location, and Lincoln Square Village, the Historic Lincoln Hotel and both the County and Federal Courthouses surround the building.

Transportation

Transportation to and from UCIMC is readily available.

• On-site parking is available at the best rate in downtown Urbana - $30 per month. Visitors can find nearby parking available at no charge for 2 hours in a city lot just East of the building.  Additional short-term metered spaces are located at the main entrance to the building. The downtown Urbana parking garage is across the street.
  
• MTD bus service operates a main hub right across the street, providing routing service throughout the C-U area.
  
• The Bike Coop is located inside UCIMC, providing you with yet another means of healthy and eco-friendly transportation

Sought-After UCIMC Amenities

UCIMC houses a 700+ capacity community center, complete with a stage, professional lighting and sound equipment. This provides an opportunity to hold conferences, workshops, and other events on-site. There are other smaller meeting rooms available, as well as a public computer access lab.

WRFU 104.5 FM (Radio Free Urbana) is on-site and available for you to broadcast shows in areas of your expertise.

Professional video and audio equipment and training are available both off-site and in UCIMC's production room.

Connect with diverse UCIMC artists in residence for additional artistic support and inspiration or make use of our woodshop/workshop area, complete with woodworking tools and other artist's supplies.
